Since the opening of the border in 1989, cross-border exchange has become part of everyday life. Every month, ‘Der Böhmerwald’ provides information about the many contacts and activities between Bavaria, the Czech Republic and Austria, thus documenting the closer alignment of the ‘Green Roof’ at the heart of Central Europe. For many, the border has long since disappeared from their minds, and people know and appreciate each other and enjoy working together – united by centuries of shared history and a passion for the beautiful landscape.
